The Federal Government of Nigeria has secured the release of Nigerian student Zainab Aliyu from Saudi Arabia authorities.
Aliyu was reportedly arrested in Saudi Arabia for allegedly trafficking hard drugs.
But Nigerian leader President Muhammadu Buhari pressed for her release after a gang of airport workers who plant hard drugs in travellers’ luggage was discovered in Nigeria.
Aliyu is believed to be one of the victims of the syndicate.
Ibrahim Abubakar, who was also detained over drug related offences on Saudi soil will also be released, Nigeria’s foreign affairs permanent secretary Suleiman Mustapha told CoreTV News in Abuja on Tuesday.
