The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has discharged and acquitted the former President Goodluck Jonathan’s cousin Robert Azibaola and his company, One Plus Holding Limited, of corruption charges.
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had prosecuted Azibaola and his company for allegedly receiving the sum of $40 million from the office of former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki, and converting same into personal use.
Justice Nnamdi Dimgba in a judgment discharged the defendants on the grounds that the prosecution failed to call vital witnesses to prove the case of money laundering.
The court had earlier discharged and acquitted Azibaola’s wife in a no case submission filed by the defendants.
