Kwara State governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq has nominated 26-year-old Joana Nnazua Kolo as a commissioner in his cabinet. Kolo is one of four female commissioners’ nominees, whose names were sent to the Kwara State House of Assembly on Tuesday. Other women on the list are Aisha Ahman Pategi from Patigi Local Government Area, Arinola Fatima Lawal (Ilorin East LGA), Mrs Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu (Ilorin South LGA) and Kolo from Edu LGA.
The governor’s request was contained in a message to the House which was read at plenary by the Speaker, Mr Danladi Yakubu-Salihu. The Speaker said the screening of the nominees would be conducted later. Kolo, the youngest commissioner nominee in the state’s history, is a 2018 graduate of Library Science from the Kwara State University.
If confirmed, she would be Nigeria’s youngest commissioner, taking the title from Oyo State’s 27-year-old Oluwaseun Fakorede. Kolo is a National Youths Service Corps member, serving in Jigawa State.
