The Federal Road Safety Corps has said that the fuel tanker fire on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has been brought under control and normalcy returned to the scene. FRSC said this in a statement signed by Florence Okpe, FRSC Public Education Officer (Ogun Command) on Friday.
Okpe said that the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. at KM 30 of the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway around Christopher University, Mowe, Ogun State. It involved two vehicles and seven persons. Only one person was injured and has been taken to the hospital for treatment.
The statement revealed that the cause of the accident is suspected to be excessive speed, which led to a loss of control. “The Fire Service were invited and they extinguished the fire. The crash scene has been cleared and traffic restored on the Expressway.
The injured victim was rescued to Famobis Hospital Lotto, near Mowe, Ogun State.”
