Governor Zulum of Borno state says no amount of intimidation can dissuade him from returning all displaced persons back to their ancestral homes.

The Governor while speaking to a delegation of National Assembly members from the state led by the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Kashim Shettima said until the people return to their villages, peace cannot return and there would be no meaningful development.

The visit, which came barely 48hrs after another ambush on the Governor’s convoy, according to Senator Kashim Shettima is to show solidarity with the government and people of Borno and the northeast at large.

Senator Shettima stressed that all elected officers of Borno extraction are fully behind the Governor’s drive for a safe, secured and prospering return of displaced persons in the state and that all efforts will be made to ensure that lasting peace run turns to the state for their people to start their normal life’s again.

Earlier in his address, the Governor stated that plans have already been concluded on the return of IDPs to Abadam and Marte and that normalcy must return to all communities formally under the stronghold of insurgents.
