Former NFF President, Oneya dies at 73

The sporting fraternity in Nigeria has lost a major player. Former President, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Brigadier General Dominic Oneya (rtd.), is dead.

Oneya, who hailed from Agbarho Kingdom in Ughelli, it has been reported, died on Thursday morning in his home at Effurun GRA in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

Born on May 26, 1948, the gentle and soft-spoken football administrator, turned 73 years of age a few months ago but had disappeared from the public view for some time now.

Dominic Oneya was the chairman of the NFF between 1999 and 2002 and was also a committee member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Brigadier General Dominic Oneya (rtd) was a one-time military administrator of Kano and Benue states during the military era.
