Newly sworn-in Agriculture Journalists Executives vows to reposition sector reportage

Newly elected and sworn-in executives of the Agriculture Correspondents Association of Nigeria, ACAN, have vowed to boost activities of the agricultural and food security sector with quality reportage and synergy with all stakeholders.

New Chairman of the association, Collins Nnabuife, an agriculture reporter with Nigerian Tribune, in his acceptance speech on behalf of the executives pointed out that the agricultural sector deserves good reports and also members of the association will keep stakeholders and policy makers on their toes to deliver on the mandate of President Bola Tinubu to Nigerians via the sector.

Nnabuife promised to embark on repositioning ACAN and make it viable to cater for the welfare of members. “First of all we will reposition the association, revitalize it and make it viable, we are going to ensure that the welfare of our members are catered for. “Most importantly we cover agriculture, we will always maintain our mandate, each media homes have their mandates, which their reporters follow, but the overall mandate is to cover the agricultural sector very well and do what we call developmental journalism.

Meanwhile, The Chairman of the electoral committee, who is also the business editor with the Punch Newspaper, Nnodim Victor while announcing the results of the election, declared that Collins Nnabuife, an agriculture reporter with Nigerian Tribune Newspaper was elected as Chairman of the Association, while Ms Anietie Patrick from Core TV News was declared winner for the Vice Chairperson position.

Oluwaseun Ayeni, an editor with Food Farm Newspaper emerged as Secretary, while Juliana Agbo a business reporter with The Nation Newspaper was elected as Welfare/PRO and Caleb Onwe of New Telegraph Newspaper emerged as the Treasurer of the Association.
